Silver Arrows 1934-1939

From 11 October 2012 to 6 January 2013, the Louwman Museum presented the exhibition Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrows 1934-1939. For the first time in nearly eighty years, these iconic Grand Prix racing cars could be seen outside Germany in a special themed exhibition.

The Silver Arrows dominated international motorsport in the 1930s. Under the leadership of team manager Alfred Neubauer, drivers such as Rudolf Caracciola, Manfred von Brauchitsch and Hermann Lang achieved great success on circuits like the Nurburgring, Monza, Donington, Tripoli, Brno, Barcelona and Monaco.

The exhibition brought together five Grand Prix racers, including the Mercedes-Benz W 25, W 125, W 154 and W 165. In addition, the cutaway chassis of a W 25 record car with a 12-cylinder engine and the exceptionally streamlined bodywork were displayed separately. The cars came from the permanent collection of the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart.

Silver Arrows 1934-1939 offered an exceptional overview of the racing cars that grew into icons of international motorsport and are still regarded as technical masterpieces.
