Book launch by Wiet Huidekoper at the Louwman Museum

Book launch Wiet Huidekoper

26 June 2026

Recently we welcomed over 110 motorsport enthusiasts to the Louwman Museum for the presentation of Wiet Huidekoper, The Life and Legacy of a Race Car Designer.

The afternoon began with a reception in the Great Hall, where the guests gathered among special automobiles. This was followed by the official book presentation in The Theater. Among others, Jeroen Bleekemolen and Huub Vermeulen shared personal memories of Wiet, who passed away in January 2023, and spoke about his sharp eye for engineering, setup and design.

The biography tells the story of a Dutch designer and engineer who played a major behind the scenes role in international motorsport. Among the cars to his name are the Lola T92/10 Judd, various Porsche 911 GT1 models, the Dauer 962 LM GT and the Opel Astra DTM.

Five race cars from his career formed a fitting backdrop in the museum that day. After the presentation, the book was festively presented to Gon, the sister of Wiet Huidekoper. Afterwards, during a pleasant reception, there was plenty of opportunity to share memories, meet old acquaintances, and view the displayed race cars up close.
