Spatz Micro Car

To reverse with this little Spatz, you must switch off the (motorcycle) engine and start it again.

This caused the motorcycle engine to run backwards. The Spatz – German for ‘sparrow’: note the emblem – is one of the many micro-cars produced in Germany after the war to get the country mobile again. It was manufactured in the little town of Traunreut, near Munich. The fibreglass bodywork was made up of an upper and a lower body shell. The car was fitted with a 250 cc, 14 hp Sachs engine. About 850 Spatz cars were produced in the mid-fifties, of which about ten were imported into the Netherlands.
