Inter Cabin Scooter

With its plexiglass dome, airplane-style steering, small wheels and two seats arranged one behind the other, this Inter is a French take on the German Messerschmitt 'Kabinenroller'.

The Inter, like the Messerschmitt, was built by an aircraft manufacturer, SNCAN of Lyon, although commissioned by a Parisian firm. The car, with its 175 cc single-cylinder, Ydral two-stroke engine, does in fact resemble a wingless aeroplane. The front wheels of the early models could be turned inwards to permit parking in narrow spaces. Approximately 200 of these cars were built between 1953 and 1956. According to the Inter brochure: ‘Pilot the Inter and you will not want another vehicle.’
