Aston Martin Nimrod

This car is the result of a collaboration between Aston Martin enthusiast and dealer Robin Hamilton and the chairman of the Aston Martin Lagonda factory, Victor Gauntlett.

In 1981 they formed Nimrod Racing Automobiles, which produced this Group C racing car. The chassis was made by Lola and the 5,3-litre, eight-cylinder engine was prepared by the tuning company Tickford, at the time a subsidiary of Aston Martin Lagonda. Five Nimrods were produced, one of which was an experimental model. The other four were raced intensively, but success eluded them due to the unreliable engine and the excessive weight which made the car too slow. A Nimrod finished in seventh place at Le Mans in 1982. In 1984 two Nimrods crashed at Le Mans, killing one of the marshals. Nimrod Racing Automobiles already had financial troubles in 1983 and the company folded the following year.
